Evangelion Art Jam

I apologize for the lateness of this--there was getting ready for and the event of Otakon, having to have to move, and then a bunch of other stuff including natural disasters and such that I blame for my lateness. I love what's been posted so far. It's so cool seeing what you guys come up with ^-^

Decided to have fun with this and go the total fan service route in lough of the summer spirit...even though it's explained in the movie that the beaches there are uninhabitable due to to pollution... but SHH! Don't ruin my summer fun.

References I used included
I used a combo of copics and watercolors for this.

I plan on doing a few more NGE drawings down the line including the end of the last movie (You Can (Not Advance)) where Shinij is struck down by the fifth (now 6th?) child--and a Rei and Asuka kitty (so cute!) fan pic of some sort.

reaction to Dota 2?

Now you know I'm a huge fan of Valve, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think of the recent Dota2 trailer?
Now to be honest, Valve is known for splitting up their development teams and then the last 6 months there's a dramatic change in production for example Left 4 Dead was handled by a team known as Turtle Rock which was originally a Counter Strike source mod that was free on the net using zombie files from Half Life 1. For a solid 4 years they worked on the game and then had all their art changed dramatically when production was handled by the core Valve team.
Now, Dota's long history comes from a Warcraft 3 mod, and it's been split up by other developers who work on League of Legends and other free to play games online and this is one of the last original mod members still working on it. Does it long sorted history really exclude it from looking identical to Warcraft 3 art assets? How much work did valve really put into this?
I've been watching the entire tournament from Gamescom this past weekend and must confess I was intrigued over it even though I'm not a big Dota fan, I played normal WC3 instead. Still the coloring pops, and there's excellent particle systems for the spells. They still call this "Beta" but it looks more then polished for a final release, the tournament was using Unreal Tournament sound file but still some of the voice samples on the characters are there.
So what say you? Is the art bad? or good? or does it get a free pass because it might be a Free to play game? Is it too hardcore tournament level game? And where is Half Life 2 ep3?

The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

http://thedailywh.at/2011/07/23/tv-show-teaser-of-the-day-3/

.:EDIT:. just in case, the link takes you to a vid teaser of the next season. I really like the direction they're taking with the Avatar and how they're giving her a very different personality from Aang.

You were right on the money Rummy my boy. If this doesn't get you (all of you) excited then you may want to check with a docter since you may be dead, in which case, I'm sorry to have it brought to light like this. But you should've realized something was wrong when your only real communication for the last week was with a little boy (perverts) who says "I see dead people.".

asuka vs mass produced eva units

just wanted to show some of my rough sketches of my Eva piece I'm working on. I picked the Asuka death scene from End of Evangelion. Always loved the demented and deranged those Evas looked like and how Asuka was just feeding on her own energy of not being defeated.

I own a Asuka figure, but I stepped on it in the middle of night while living in Philly like 9 years ago. But I learned sketching from it, it's not wise to just draw it identically instead just focuse on the movement and flow of the pose instead.

I just loved kinetic energy in the fight scene, so I'm trying hard to emulate that in the final piece. I'm not intending to copy a specific scene from the film, just like the idea of overly violent and fighting to the death with these deranged monsters who are constantly smiling.

kind of off topic, but got motivated to draw a killer robot right after seeing how dull and boring transformers was. WOW! I've read fan fiction better then that. And also how unearned any of it's action is. Just coming out of Captain America and even with it's action which is all modest, Captian runs, punches dude, but there's still a sense of his optimism and honesty is well defined. And the humor in Cap'n A isn't offensive, mean spirited, goofy or even overstaying it's welcome. That's the biggest problem with Transformers, like their jokes go on too long, with no idea why these scenes are even in the context of the film. It's amazing how anyone can be catered to every single fetish and still make it boring, I've been off a marathon of Russ Meyers and Jack Hill films and you can make a film about fetish but you can make it good. Foxy Brown is an AMAZING FILM, even if you want to see a beautiful woman, but she kicks so much ass that it's awesome. You stand up and cheer when she cuts off a guy's dick off.

but transformers, the movie is saved by a super model who talks megatron into saving the world, and then he gets decapitated by optimus prime. No, "thanks for saving me megatron," nope "FINISH HIM" in Mortal Kombat fashion, and then stupid ass arch of "Shia I love you" which is really the arch of these films, the dick gets the girl for being a dick. Ugh, seriously I never seen a film as bad as that.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Art Jam - July 11

OK, this is one of my favorite anime of all time. The art I've seen for this is just down right beautiful. There is no other words I can use to describe it. Recently, after seeing the newest movie Neon Genesis Evangelion: You Can (Not) Advance, I have to say I fell in love with the series again. I even have to say, the newest character they just decided to add into the mix, Mari, is pretty darn awesome too. If you have not seen this movie, watch it, and be amazed (you can skip this first one, You are (Not) Alone, if you know what the series is about) And the greatest part of this is, there's just so much you can do with this!

For those who are not familiar with the series, here's the wiki page to get an idea of what it's all about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neon_Genesis_Evangelion_%28anime%29

Some random facts...
When the character designer was told to come up with unit 01, he was told to come up with his vision of the devil.
There's supposedly a live action film in the making... though I believe it's been set back a bit.
After the completion of the original series, the creator checked himself into an insane asylum.

When it comes to an animated series, a good source of real life references can be cosplayers.

I'm soooo excited to see what you guys can come up with~<3!! :D Have fun with it ^-^

Street Figher Juri vs M. Bison

"Oh man, I was really planning on saving the main coarse for last... Whatever. I'll just eat you up. Bones and all!"

OK, one of my favorite fight scenes in street fighter, Juri vs. M. Bison.

Things I did... started with pencil sketch of Juri, fixed up using this tips from you guys. Then decided to throw a background, and then Bison in there--Bison was the hard part honestly. I hate drawing big muscely guys. Asked Red for a few tips since he's an expert in that area, and in the coloring process ended up loosing half of the corrections he gave me ;-; (I'm sorry I failed yee). But... happy that I was able to incorporate a background and another character into the mix since that was one of my goals. Colored using copics and paints (the purple part was a biotch to paint because it ended up being super blotchy, but I think I ended up fixing it for the most part. That hair has a nice texture too I added with think copics, but you can't really see it since I had to take a photo of this in order for you to see the neon colors since for w/e reason scanners hate neon. Also pretty pleased that I just discovered the hot pink parts glow under black light producing a pretty cool effect I wish I could properly photograph for you guys (I would have never known this if my computer didn't come installed with a blacklight xD--I took a pic, but it's hard to make out). But any-hoo, without further adoo, I give you my finished product.

July Art Jam

Is anyone going to post the new jam? Because if not, I have a good one in mind >w> And if so, I'll just save it for my turn~ >w>

Cammy

Just a quick one as I ran out of time! I've got another with a bit of fighting in it which I hope to finish at some point, but who knows!
