Art Jams & Freelance
Rei and Asuka cat girls for NGE art jam. This is probably my favorite finished thing that I've drawn in the past six months. I was drawing in the university library while waiting around after class, and someone actually thought I was an art student lol
I'm not a fan of the show, but this character looked interesting with the dragon rainbow thinggy. My first drawing for the next art jam which I absolutely HATE because I totally obviously screwed up on the face.
So to make up for it, I drew this in a matter of like five minutes.

For the next art jam--I was going for like a 1970's James Bond opening type thing with the background. I like it, but the only thing I really DON'T like is the skin tone. It came out too streaky. I don't mean to sound racist or anything like that, it's just that I've never really attempted to draw anyone with a skin tone darker than gold or olive, so I guess it was a good challenge for me.
Now some freelance stuff I've been doing. This is my two favorite characters from one of my favorite fighting games of all time, Tekken--Lili and Asuka. This is an old drawing--so the proportions are off, I just used marker and paint to color it.
Isis and Abby (my cat and dog) as Isis (cat woman's cat) and Krypto the Superdog. Another sketch while I was waiting around the library. I REALLY love this sketch, and am hoping to eventually color it.

A Joker and Harley Quinn from Arkham City sketch. I really like the look of Harley Quinn from that game (I want to cosplay her at the next convention I go to--but everyone keep trying to talk me into dressing up as her in her nurses uniform lolz), and HAD to include the Joker. It's a really rough sketch full of errors, but I'm hoping to eventually finish it. AhhH! It's so bad lol
OK that's if for now. Comments much appreciated--thx! ^-^

New Beginnings!
Hey chums! Hope you guys had a super holiday!
For those wondering about the Jams, yes, they are still on but they'll be a little different for a little while.
The topics will be simple and chosen by me, the selfish Sinistar1. I'll certainly be taking suggestions so please pester me on what Jams you want to do! Submissions will be limited to sketches only so that there's no pressure to post anything amazing. Just have fun and participate. New topic soon!
For those into comic making, would you be interested in doing an anthology of some sorts like POPGUN? Something 4-8 pages each? Would be amazing to showcase some of your work at conventions. If it goes well, we might even make it an annual thing. Let me know your ideas peeps.

My roughs and my finished work. I learned something with this, and really, that's all I've ever wanted out of this kind of art jam stuff. I learned how to use the pen tool in photoshop and make really easy and quick flats.
In case you're like me and you don't know how to use the pen tool, here's the quick run down.
First you select the brush tool and set the brush to however you want the lines to look like at whatever thickness. Next you use the pen tool to create your wavy lines of joy (remember to use the CTRL key to adjust the lines. Just hold it down and you can reselect the points you've made and drag and twist the line) and then after all that, you right mouse click to open up your options and select Stroke. This is where I got confused because I didn't know you could do that. You can even have it mimic pressure if you want but otherwise, you'll have your nice clean line now. Just hit ESC twice to deselect the lines and you can continue with your penmanship.
Coloring is a snap now too. You see, with the pen tool creating really strong lines, the flats are colored really quickly by using the magic wand tool. Just select the inside of the lines and hold down SHIFT if you want to add more to your selection. Then make sure you click on a separate layer and then go to the top tabs and click on Selection, Modify, Expand and then expand by 2 or 3 pixels depending on how thick your lines are. I used 4 pixel thick lines so 2 worked fine for me. Just fill the selection in with your color of choice and voila~ You've just layed down some quick flats. Oh the joy of learnering.
