Sonic Generations: Gameplay

Looks like Sonic's out of rehab. What's the last good sonic game you played?

  2. no clue. I'm assuming after episode 1's mediocre reception sonic got into his 6th DUI charge or RUI rather. I liked episode 1 myself but didn't find it as fun as Sonic Colours personally.

  3. man it's getting redundant how much Sega does these Sonic games. But yeah Sonic Colors seemed to get better reviews..... I personally love the art style of the orginal Sonic 1, 2 and CD.... and everything from that point, it went down hill. The GBA and DS games were pretty good, but overall Sonic is a pretty dead series to me. There's a good idea to give something new to the series instead of rehashing, but sonic teams does seem to not know what their doing. It's a lot like FF7 Dirge of Cerberius "this is what americans like, lets appeal to them." And that's the problem with Japanese developers, they try to appeal to an audience they don't quite understand, and sonic games just end up like this every couple months. Just reminded of an artist from Blur studio during shadow the hedgehog really confused with the orders he was being given by Sega when they were rendering out art for them.

  4. Last good Sonic game to come out was Sonic and Knuckles imo!
I was always a massive Sonic fan growing up, the character got me into two of my biggest passions: videogames and comic books (the UK comic that is) and from that made me want to draw my own comics. I loved those games but I just feel that nothing since the MegaDrive/Genesis era has felt at all like a 'Sonic' game. The side-scrolling bits of Generations look interesting, but then again I had high hopes for Sonic 4 too and I thought that played like crap! I just hope they do an HD, ultra sharp sprite based 2d Sonic that feels like the originals in both spirit and in gameplay, that'd make me very happy!

  5. A Sonic HD collection would be the best:

Sonic 2 had the most memorable music for me but I loved the tunes in sonic and knuckles. I think Sonic Rush on the DS may be the closest thing we got to a decent "Sonic 4" game. There should have been a DLC port of that game a long time ago.
