Down Time Comics

I was looking at an old relic of a comic panel and it got me thinking. Maybe I should do one in black and white instead. I'd never have enough time to do a fully coloured page regularly but a black and white I could see myself doing for fun in my free time. Is b/w too boring?

  1. if it means seeing a comic from you more regularly, I say go with the b/w tones. It makes things much easier. Btw, is the a quick way to color in the background like that? Without having to disturb the character that is.

  2. You mean for it to look something like something like this?:

If you set up your flats correctly this way of colouring the background using "layer masks" is super easy. The only problem for me is that I'm super picky with colours/balance so it takes me procrastinate lol. I could livestream how to do it if you want.

  3. If all you gotta do is lay down the flats on the character, then yeah, I can do that too. I was just hoping for a shortcut that doesn't involve messing with the character. Alas, twas not meant to be. But yeah, I wouldn't mine seeing a livestream of how you draw.

  4. If your doing the flats using the Binary or Pencil Tool everything you do subsequently is super quick and easy. I might do a stream soon but I'm not sure what to draw lol.

  5. Depending on what version of Photoshop you use, click and hold the "Brush Tool" and the Pencil tool should show up in a tab. It's basically a "hard edge" version of all your normal brushes. Using this for flats makes selections, filling areas and selecting colours super easy.

  6. I usually use the Lasso tool and ball park the whole thing, then I go back and refine with a brush and eraser after I filled it all in with my color of choice. At least, that's how I'm doing it now days.

  7. Cool, that's pretty much how I do things when drawing for myself. I only use the pen tool when I may have to completely change things like colour selections for logos, flyers, brochures etc. Basically anything that has to go to print.

  8. Black and white is more Convenient and effective but colour can be very impact-full I personally like B&W comics but in the end it's really up to you what you really want,I say do B&W pages and then when a really important part comes up then drop some colours down on those pages lol.
